Established in 2006, the Center is dedicated to offering anybody who is interested information and instruction on Buddhism and Korean Culture.

Our practice aims at finding our clear mind by training our bodies and minds towards having the right understanding of life. This practice leads us to a life of wisdom, true happiness and compassion. Due to this, we sincerely wish that everybody is able to spend a shorter or longer period with us in Seoul. As a different but complementary experience to the Templestay Program, this is not only a great opportunity to learn meditation but also a chance to experience chanting, bowing, Dharma talks and Sunmudo (Zen martial art).

Practicing together helps each one to practice better and so we have created an international community of Korean and Foreigners who like to communicate in English. After the practice, we walk together in the mountains or drink a cup of tea. It¡¯s the best moment for sharing, or for asking questions and learning about Korean culture!

Maybe you would like to join us and become a volunteer for the Dharma School (every Saturday) or for our yearly camp. In these activities, we teach Buddhism and English to children and we need your help.

Vairocana International Meditation Center is part of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, a Seon (Zen) school.
The Jogye Order is the main Buddhist school of Korea. The Vairocana Buddha represents the tranquil light of the Buddha Nature that we all possess.

Since 2006, the director of the temple is Ven. Ja-Woo Sunim. She was ordained in 1992 and Dharma Instructor in 2002. She worked in Indonesia as a abbot of the Korean Temple in Jakarta (?). She has taught Buddhism in Korean and English to lay people and spoken in international conferences and contributed to broadcasts and newspapers. Ven. Ja-Woo Sunim wrote also a guide for Templestay programs which has been published in 2014.

So if you are looking for peaceful and quiet place in this big city, please have a try and join us when you wish !
You can come for one hour mediation or one year of buddhist practice and why not one day becoming a Buddhist¡¦
